On September 17, 2023, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi launched the “PM Vishwakarma Yojana“. This yojana is for people who run small businesses making things by hand using old-fashioned methods, such as potters, weavers, and metalworkers.
This special program started by the Indian government will help skilled craftspeople who are very good at making things by hand. The concept of PM Vishwakarma Yojana is to help such people to become better and more successful. The budget of Vishwakarma Yojana is INR 13,000 crore to help craftsmen make more money and have a better life.
Why did the government introduce PM Vishwakarma Yojana?
The artisans engaged in work like blacksmithing, carpentry, pottery, and goldsmithing don’t have money to increase their skills or to get proper training. They face difficulties in selling their work as most of them are not able to understand how to reach customers.
PM Vishwakarma Yojana will help such people to reach their goals. This yojana will help them learn new skills, get loans to purchase good tools, and will also help them find places where they can sell their products. Departments like Small Businesses, Skill Development, and Finance are working together to make PM Vishwakarma Yojana successful.
PM Vishwakarma Yojana will help:
- Keep the old skills of craftsmen.
- help these people make their things better and faster, so they can sell them in stores.
